RAFT-SUPPORTED MULTI-DAY KAYAKING TRIPS!
If you’re plugged in to the availability of clinics that Ace Kayaking School has to offer, or paddle on the Northern Cumberland Plateau much, you may have heard of our overnighter clinics, where as a whitewater kayaker, Ace will prepare you for and guide you on a 3-day winter wilderness whitewater trip that is fully self-support - everything you need is stored in your own boat, and you are the master of your own destiny. Over the years of running these fantastic clinics, where we learn self-reliance and how to adapt in a gritty, wild setting, I have had many paddlers express interest in a tamer, lower key version of the trip. I’m excited to announce that in 2024, we are offering ONE raft-supported multi-day kayaking trip!
If you are one of the 6 lucky trip participants, all your gear and food will be transported via oar rig down one of the fine overnight sections of river that is available in the Obed/Big South Fork area, for a 3-day, 2 night adventure. All you’ll need to carry in your boat is a throw rope, and whatever you need during the day - multi-day kayaking with empty boats! Our team will provide guidance, naturalist interpretation, side-hiking opportunities, on-river safety/support, transport of all your gear to the best campsites, and companionship.
2024 DATES:
This trip runs March 1st through 3rd (that’s Friday through Sunday).
PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS:
This trip will occur in a remote river canyon during the late winter, where temperatures can drop down below freezing. Statistically, we see a high of 45+ degrees and lows at or above freezing. Paddlers need drysuits and all requisite equipment, as well as reliable COMBAT rolls and comfort on Class III rivers.
COST: $600
KEEP IN MIND:
Though this trip is at the top end of what Ace can offer as far as support/”luxury”, you’ll still need all the gear for a winter overnight trip. It would be cost prohibitive for us to provide all the equipment you would need for a trip like this, and really, any good adventurer should have what’s needed for winter camping.
